How it works

A City Tales tour is a self guided experience that’s delivered straight to your phone. You will need Whatsapp downloaded and working on your phone to particpate. If you don't have it yet, you can download it here.

Once you’ve purchased your tour, you’ll receive a confirmation email to the email address you gave us when you paid. This confirmation email will contain the most up to date information for your tour, but the details are pretty much as follows:

Our ‘Postman Bertie’s round’ story begins at Paternoster Square, near St Paul’s Cathedral. Once you’re there and ready to start, send a message to the Postman Bertie phone number included in your confirmation email. There’s no need to book time slots for your tour and you can start the story whenever you like. However, we would recommend starting the tour before 4pm, as some of the locations on the tour will close in the evenings.

The self guided tour usually takes our participants around 60 minutes, but this may be a bit longer or shorter depending on how quickly you solve the clues and progress through the story. You can take a break and pause the tour at any time by not answering the messages you receive until you’re ready to start again.

If you get stuck during the tour, you can ask the characters for hints. If this does not help, or you’re really stuck, tell a character you’re stuck and they will move you onto the next part of the story. Multiple incorrect answers will also move you onto the next part of the story.

City Tales stories are designed to be multimedia experiences. This means a story may include sending and receiving images, videos, voice notes and more. By participating in a City Tales tour, you agree that any content you create, provide or send to us during the tour belongs to City Tales and may be used for marketing purposes.
